What’s SUP?

Arriving in Chelan Sunday afternoon we decided to try Stand Up Paddleboarding for the first time – we figured this would be a good place to start since the lake is relatively calm and warm 😉

BK got up pretty quickly and got the hang of it much quicker than, probably because he has done similar activities like surf and ski and snowboard.

It took me a few times to finally stand briefly, and then stand again a little bit longer, and then stand for a bit but promptly fall in upon trying to paddle.  Eventually however, I strung it all together – woo hoo!

Its hard – definitely a core workout and I felt it in my quads a bit too the next morning.  I think it will definitely get easier with practice, though I’m not sure about doing it in the Sound knowing the likelihood that I will be falling on several times…
